I am writing this post from the comfort of our hotel bed at the Raphael Hotel.
We are already impressed with this historic hotel.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by two gentlemen who took care of our car and bags and let us know where to check in.
Walking in to this boutique hotel feels like luxury right from the start. The check-in was warm and friendly and made us feel truly welcome. Like they had been waiting for us to arrive. After a few questions, the woman who checked us in was making us a reservation for dinner and we were on our way to our room.
Our “room” is AH-MAZING! It’s actually three rooms. Bathroom/Jacuzzi/humongous shower area, living room area and bedroom!
I’m getting ahead of myself! So, at the end of our birthday weeks, we always get away for 4 or 5 days to extend the Birthday week and also give the person that has been working all week a fun break. We decided to stay in town this time and check out some new-to-us hotels.
Our sitter, Cassie, who we could never go on vacation without, arrived right on time at 8am to take over the group home. We took our time getting ready for the day which already made us feel like we were on vacation.
Once the car was loaded, we headed out for breakfast!
After breakfast, we ran up to my brother’s house so Justin could meet Sawyer and I could get some more baby time!
He also needed a candy corn hat from Aunt Stacy.
Before getting checked in at our hotel, we stopped at Zocalo for some happy hour.
And some chips and Guac.
And mini tacos!
Those little baby tacos were packed with flavor! I ordered the carnitas which were topped with spinach, mango, pickled onion and cheese.
Great place, with good happy hour vibe, for a drink and quick snack! Just what we needed.
Ok, now we can continue where we left off
A lot has happened since I first explained our check in, but remember the reservation that was made for us? It was for the hotel restaurant, Chaz on the Plaza. Even if you decide not to stay at the Raphael, you must eat at this restaurant!
We got there well before our reservation and happy hour was still in full swing. We were greeted by James, the bartender. He was so friendly and professional. After chatting with him for a while, he served up a birthday shot for Justin!
James was the best. He seemed to really enjoy his job and visiting with him while enjoying our drinks and charcuterie board was a great way to start our evening.
We were seated for dinner and soon introduced to the restaurant by Josh, our server. As soon as he approached our table, we knew we were going to like him! He was super friendly, funny and definitely knew his stuff when it came to the food!
My dinner included crab soup, KC strip oscar style, brie stuffed potato and asparagus.
And that was about as far into as I got! I was so full after all the food during the day I guess. It was so good though!
We shared a chocolate ice cream sandwich topped with bananas foster, a little whipped cream, caramel and peanut brittle. Obviously, my appetite came back when that arrived!
When we got back to our room, there was a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us!
We fell into bed and were asleep 2 seconds later!
