Great Weekend

It’s Monday!

We had a great weekend! Hope you did too.

Saturday

I started the day by heading to the Farmer’s Market.  It was opening day!

IMG_0730

There were maybe seven farmers there and not too much to choose from, but there’s just not a lot to sell in April in Kansas City!

I purchased some eggs, honey, asparagus and sweet potatoes.

Justin played golf with his Dad and I just watched movies and did stuff around the house.

Saturday Eats

Meal #1: Egg sandwich: Rudi’s gluten free bread, two eggs, two canadian bacon

IMG_1866

Meal #2: Rudi’s gluten free bread, natural peanut butter, honey, banana

IMG_1868

Meal #3: Chicken sausage with mustard and aspargus

IMG_1871

Meal #4: Wendy’s: Burger, fries, Frosty (I didn’t get a picture!)

Sunday

I started the day with an hour of cardio.

  • 30 minutes on the elliptical
  • 30 minutes on the spin bike

It was pouring down rain in the morning so no outside running.

After cardio and breakfast, I made a grocery store run so I can get some food prepped for the week.

Sunday Eats:

Meal #1: Oats with protein and a banana

IMG_1858

Meal #2: Egg sandwich: Rudi’s gluten free bread with two whole eggs

IMG_1875

Meal #3: Gluten free angel hair pasta, cream of broccoli soup, extra broccoli, grape tomatoes.  It was NOT good.  Too much soup. Cooked the angel hair pasta too long. It was a pile of mush. Yuck. (I still ate it!)

IMG_1876

Meal #4: Grilled some chicken and veggies

IMG_1886

We wrapped up our weekend with some TV: Amazing Race, Game of Thrones (or something like that…it’s Justin’s show) and Celebrity Apprentice.

Just Another Friday

It’s 6:10am and it’s light outside. I love that.

IMG_0729

He loves it too.

Have I mentioned that my Fitbit broke?  It did.  I emailed their support team and they were terrific! A new one is on it’s way.  I didn’t know why it died at first.  I came home from Title Boxing a week or so ago and it synced up fine.  That afternoon, I tried to sync it again and nothing.  Nodda. Dead.

In one of the emails from the support team, the girl advised not to clip the Fitbit to my sports bra during workouts, because it sits against my skin and could get too wet.  That’s exactly how I had been wearing it.

I sweat so profusely during workouts that I’m not sure wear I can clip the Fitbit to NOT get too wet.  I guess I’m going to try my shoelaces!

Workout

I started my Friday at Title Boxing. I got some sweat moving and endorphins pumping!

Meals

Meal #1: Oats with protein powder and a banana

IMG_1858

Meal #2: Two whole eggs, two egg whites, canadian bacon and Rudi’s gluten free toast with a little butter

IMG_1859

Meal #3: Abuelo’s: Soup and salad with chips and salsa

IMG_0725

Meal #4: Chobani Apple Cinnamon yogurt with gluten free granola on top.

IMG_1862

Meal #5: Chicken breast and chicken sausage dipped in mustard with brussel sprouts

IMG_1864

Justin calls brussel sprouts: poop nuggets.

I am off to the Farmer’s Market this morning! Have a great Saturday!

Time to Grill

I bought myself a gas grill.  I bought it all by myself and put it together and grilled some food.  All by myself.

IMG_1839

Nothing fancy. Just a simple gas grill that is waiting for me to cook a single chicken breast whenever I get the whim!

There has been an ongoing argument around here about the grilling situation. Justin prefers a charcoal grill over a gas grill.

I just want some grilled food.

IMG_1842

I don’t really care how the food gets grilled, but charcoal and lighter fluid scare me a little. So, Justin has always done the grilling.

Except, conditions have to be perfect in order for Justin to grill. The weather needs to be warm, but not hot, no wind, not a cloud in the sky, birds must be chirping and he must be in the mood to drink a beer. And if he has done pretty much anything else all day long, he does not feel like grilling.

IMG_0707

I just want some grilled food.

I also don’t want to forget that once he gets everything going, you better believe that anything in the fridge that is able to lay on the grill, is going on the grill!

I get it.  It’s always delicious when he’s done. It’s takes some effort to grill on charcoal so he wants to make the most of it.

But, sometimes, I don’t want to watch him grill for 4 hours, I just want a chicken breast. Just one.  And maybe some asparagus.

So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

IMG_0717

Okay, so that’s a little more than one chicken breast.

It was delicious and Justin was happy because I cooked him ribeyes.

So that was Wednesday.

Thursday’s Workout

I started the day by meeting over at my friend’s house at 6am and going for a run.  We went 4.5 miles and it was fun and a great way to start the day.

I also lifted some weights!  I know it’s crazy.  It’s been like three months!

It wasn’t much and it was quick, but I’m actually sore this morning.  I think my body is in shock.

3 sets, 12 reps

  • flat bench chest press with dumb bells
  • flat bench overhead triceps extension with one dumb bell
  • cable lat pull downs
  • bicep curls with dumb bells

Meals

Meal #1: Oats with protein and a banana

IMG_1844

Meal #2: Two whole eggs and a two cuties

IMG_1847

Meal #3: Grilled chicken breast and chicken sausage with veggies

IMG_1850

Meal #4: Same as above!

IMG_1850

Meal #5: Grilled chicken breast and chicken sausage. I grilled some fresh asparagus and red bell pepper. I had eaten most of the asparagus before I remembered to take the darn picture!

IMG_1856

So, that’s it!  Now I’m off to Title Boxing to get this Friday started!

Busy Busy

Good Morning!

IMG_0702

It seems like every time I turn around I am doing a recap of days I didn’t get around to blogging!

Why should today be any different.

Monday

I started the day with Title Boxing and then attached my computer to my hands and worked on paperwork I had been putting off!  I took a break long enough for Justin and I to hit the grocery store and eat lunch.

  • Meal #1: Oats with protein powder
  • Meal #2: Rudy’s Gluten free toast with natural peanut butter and Gma’s plum jelly
  • Meal #3: Houlihan’s: Tortilla soup, Southwest chicken wrap (didn’t eat the chips)

Tuesday

Yesterday, we had our state inspection for our group home.  We have someone that comes in monthly and checks on us and then we people that come in annually and check, but every two years is the big state inspection.   It went really well but getting ready for it always gets me into a tizzy.  It’s a pretty big deal….it’s our business, after all!  As soon as the inspector left, we headed out for Taco Tuesday and then to Yogurtini for a celebratory cup of delicious!

  • Meal #1: Oats with protein powder and a banana
  • Meal #2: Rudy’s gluten free toast with natural peanut butter and Gma’s plum jelly
  • Meal #3: Two tacos, chips with salsa
  • Meal #4: Yogurtini: Chocolate Yogurt and Key Lime Sorbet topped with Snickers, Kit Kat, M&M’s, mini chocolate chips and chocolate syrup
  • Meal #5: BLT

2012-04-20 001

That about sums up my week so far.  I am taking a little break from ballet for a month or so.  Between my Grandpa and our group home, I had missed every class in April!  I plan on going back to it when everything settles down a bit.  By the way, Grandpa is doing much better. He had a mild heart attack last week (did I share that with you?), which sent us all flying to the hospital last Friday.  They ended up putting a defibrillator and pacemaker in on Monday and he is recovering like a champ.  They should be releasing him from the hospital today and moving him to a rehab facility for several days to gain strength.

I wasn’t able to go to the hospital Monday because I was getting ready for the inspection, couldn’t go yesterday because of the inspection, now today I have another meeting so I can’t go and then tomorrow I have to take one of our clients to an appointment!  Hopefully I can get out there on Friday!

I’ll leave you with pictures of the girls enjoying their bully sticks.  Guess what part of the bull makes a bully stick!

A Good Little Weekend

Happy Monday!  Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Friday

We spent the day at the hospital with Grandpa then came home to get ready for our night out.

We met up Justin’s Dad and Stepmom at their house for a glass of wine and then headed out to dinner.

IMG_0682

We went to Hereford House.

IMG_0685IMG_0686IMG_0687

I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp with a baked potato for my main course, but I made the mistake of eating that silly roll (as seen in the second picture) and couldn’t eat my potato.  One of those eating without thinking moments because I was really looking forward to that potato.  Justin enjoyed it the next day!

Saturday

I didn’t do much Saturday.  Mainly stuff around the house and watching a Reece Witherspoon movie marathon while crocheting.  Justin played golf with his Dad and Stepbrother.

Sunday

I started the day with an 8 mile run and then an one mile walk with the girls.  It felt great!

Meal #1: Egg sandwich on gluten free bread and canadian bacon

IMG_1802

Meal #2: Tuna Salad sandwich (Tuna: one can of tuna, red and yellow bell pepper, black and green olives, mustard and miracle whip) with tomato and lettuce.  More olives and bell peppers on the side.

IMG_1805

Meal #3: Meatless burrito bowls: Cilantro lime brown rice, black beans, fajita style bell peppers, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, black olives, salsa, tomatoes with onion and cilantro

IMG_1809

Time to get this week started with some Title Boxing!

Peanut Butter Kind of Day

Workouts

I started the day with a run and a walk with the girls.

IMG_1799

I ran for a little over 5 miles and then walked with the girls for a little over one mile.  I focused on hills while running.  We have a pretty hilly neighborhood but there are three really good hills.  I ran down and then turned around and ran back up on each one.  My FitBit must have counted the hills has a couple of flights of stairs each!

Meal #2: Oats with protein with a tablespoon of peanut butter

Rainbow

Good Morning!

IMG_1711

I felt great yesterday!  So full of energy and motivation. Welcome back estrogen, welcome back.

After getting our morning routine done, I headed to the hospital to spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa.  Yes, he is still in the hospital.  He actually went home on Monday and was right back in on Tuesday morning because he felt like he couldn’t breath.  So, he’s going to be there for awhile, followed by some rehab and maybe even some skilled nursing after that.  He looked good yesterday.

I love spending time with those two.

Workouts

I started the day with Title Boxing! It was great, as usual!  As I started driving home, a rainbow greeted me!

IMG_0652

It was so neat! Rainbows rule.

IMG_0655

I wore my fit bit to Title Boxing and here is the breakdown:

Activity record from 06:00am to 07:00am

  • Duration1hr
  • Cals burned: 546
  • Steps: 6147
  • Floors: 2
  • Distance: 3.99 mi
  • Pace: 15:02/mi

It was so cool to see how it all broke down, but only 546 calories?!  I was pretty surprised.  I need to take it up a notch. I thought I was a lot closer to 1,000 calories.

My meals weren’t all that great.  I need to remember to pack food for my trips to the hospital.  The hospital he is in is an hour away from us, so it’s an all day affair when I go and I need to have food with me.

Meals:

Meal #1: Oats with protein

IMG_1771

Meal #2: Mini taco salad with Grandma in the hospital cafeteria.

Meal #3: Peanut butter toast when I got home from the hospital

IMG_1777

Meal #4: Papa John’s pizza: Had one slice of pizza and shared some buffalo wings with Justin. Also ate some cinnamon bread thingy.

Time to lace up the running shoes and get moving!  See you tomorrow!
