Ballet=SORE!

I can’t believe the toll Ballet is taking on my body! I am so sore, that I can hardly get anything else done in life!

But, I love it!

I started the day off with a slooooow 5 mile run. I mentioned before that I was going to do the Hal Higdon training schedule, the one that had me running 3 or 4 miles, three times during the week and then one long run on the weekend. I thought running the shorter mileage throughout the week would give me a chance to work on speed, but, since my legs are so freaking sore on my running days, there is something therapeutic about getting out there and doing a slow and steady 5miles.

After all, this is my first Half Marathon, I’m not trying to win, I’m trying to NOT DIE!

So, I think I’ll do 5 miles, three times per week and then one long run on the weekend and see what happens.

I ran in my running skirt and it was great!  I never had to mess with it. It stayed perfectly in place. So glad I made that purchase!

We stuck around the house yesterday. We had one of our clients home suffering from allergies.  It’s that time of year!

Lululemon

Yesterday was a busy and fun day!

I started my day with Title Boxing and ended it with Ballet Class.  In between, we ate lunch and visited Lululemon!

I have been wanting to check out the Lululemon store in our area but it’s about a 30-40 minute drive and there’s just never been anything I was dying to have that would make me drive out there. Until now.  I decided I wanted a running skirt and saw that they have suuuuuper cute ones, so off we went.  I say WE, because I talked Justin into going with me.

Evidently, we can’t run any errands without eating out for lunch, and since we were out by Mestizo’s, we went back to check out their lunch menu.  It was just as good as the dinner we ate there and that’s probably because we both ordered the same thing (only Justin’s came in taco form this time)!

We wrapped up our day with some TV and back massages.  It was Survivor night along with Modern Family and Happy Endings.  Happy Endings has become one of our favorite shows. It’s so funny!

17 Years!

Let’s talk about yesterday.

Justin and I celebrated our 17th anniversary for the day we met!  I can’t believe it’s been 17 years. That’s almost half my life!

Gosh, I love that guy!

I feel so lucky that I get to spend my days and nights with him!

We didn’t do anything too exciting, after all, it was also Taco Tuesday, yo!

And, I was so freaking sore, I was nauseous most of the day.  I was pumping water but I just couldn’t keep up!  I was ready for my rest day and it’s only Tuesday!

Workouts

  • Ran 3.6 miles. I got a late start so had to cut it short. It felt good, though. I went at a slow, steady pace and let my body loosen and stretch out.  When I got home, I headed to the back deck and did some yoga. It felt so good.

I ended the day with some Biggest Loser and then Justin and I watched New Girl together while giving each other massages.  Seriously, how funny is New Girl?!  I laugh the entire show!  I am getting tickled right now just thinking about it!

Biggest Loser had some pretty funny parts in it too. How about when Bob told Megan he was going to cut her hair and kill her if she didn’t do what he said! Aaahahaha!

Monday Love

Yesterday was awesome. I love Mondays.

I love Mondays because I get to start my day with Title Boxing and end my day with Ballet!

I am so sore this morning, I can hardly pick up a cup of coffee and I don’t think there is a muscle from my belly button down that is working properly.

I need a foam roller and I need to stretch. A lot.

Besides exercising, we made a run to the grocery store, office supply store and I took a nap outside in the sun.

Gosh, all that rain we got last week made everything come ALIVE around here. It is so beautiful. The grass is so thick and green, the trees all bloomed and now the leaves are coming and the air smells like fresh cut grass.  Love this time of year!

We were super low on groceries yesterday! Thankfully, we had some left overs from the family dinner to eat on before our trip to the store.

We stocked up. I am looking forward to firing up the grill today and getting some food cooked up for the rest of the week.

I was so hungry when I got home from ballet. Luckily, Justin had fixed taco salads and I got to grab a plate as soon as I walked in the door. Thanks, Babe!

I was also so tired, but The Voice and Dancing with Stars was on so I ended up staying up until 10pm watching it all.

I recorded DWTS and watched it after The Voice but forgot it was a recording and watched almost every darn commercial until about the last 20 minutes. Don’t you hate when that happens? I was fighting to stay awake to watch it too!

Yesterday was a great day!  We had some beautiful weather in Kansas City.

I made gluten free banana bread with chocolate chips.

Draw Something

Hello, my name is Stacy and I’m a Draw Something-aholic.

It all started yesterday when I hopped on Facebook and saw, my sister, Vann’s status that mentioned Draw Something.  I grabbed my iPhone to see what she was talking about and it’s been glued to my hand since.

I love it!  It’s so fun! If you play, find me! Start a game! My username is karatenurse. (duh.)

Before I was glued to my phone, I laced up my running shoes and stretched my legs and body out with a 2 mile run. (geesh.)  Two miles is better than zero miles, I guess. Then I leashed up the girls and went for a walk.

We had once last little period of rain yesterday, but looks like we are in the clear for the weekend!  Bring on the sunshine!

We ran our taxes down to our accountant yesterday, grabbed some lunch and then I did a little Spring clothes shopping.  I don’t know what it is about this time of year that makes me want new clothes!  New, brightly colored clothes!

Little back story: I have NEVER ordered fajitas in a restaurant before. I think it is totally embarrassing how they come so loudly sizzling to your table and the entire restaurant stares at you while you get your food!  But…they were the special yesterday and there was only a couple of people in the restaurant at the time time so Justin talked me into getting them.  They came to our table like this:

ON A PLATE! Bahahahaha! I was thrilled.  Justin said they didn’t count!  Aw, well, I’ll  have to conquer that insecurity another day!

March Rain Brings….

Some BORED animals!

It’s been raining since Tuesday.  I barely moved for Tuesday and Wednesday. Our poor dogs are so bored! They just lay around and stare at me.

We did get a break for a couple of hours yesterday.  The sun came out and it was beautiful. They only came in when it started to rain again.  At which time, they both had to go strait to the bath tub.

The cat just walks around crying to get outside. I finally let him out and then 5 seconds later he realizes he is getting rained on and cries to get back in, where he promptly walks to another door and cries to get out again.

Yesterday was full of getting our house back to normal.  Lots of laundry and cleaning.

I also made Godwin bars so we could have something healthy to eat beside candy and chips!

I made a couple of changes from the original recipe:

  • I didn’t have any cereal, so I double the amount of oats.
  • I didn’t have any almond milk, so I used a couple Tablespoons of water.
  • I didn’t have any lemon.
  • I didn’t have any coconut. (I never add coconut.)
  • For the dried fruit, I did a cup of blueberries, cup of cranberries and a cup of cherries!
  • I didn’t have any figs, so I used 10 dates.
  • I didn’t have any agave nectar, so I used honey.

These are so easy to make if you have large food processor.  I just dump all the dry ingredients in and process.

Then all the not so dry ingredients on top of that and process again! Done!

I use a scoop to place them on a cookie sheet.

Then I spray a spatula with Pam, flatten them out and bake at 325 for about 15 minutes or until they start turning brown.

When you follow the above link for the recipe, it shows them in bar form.  I use a mini loaf pan when I make them like that but yesterday I felt like making them in cookie form.

After not eating so great for two days, all I felt like yesterday was salads (and WATER)!

We ended the night with some TV: 30 Rock and Frozen Planet.  Have any of you watched Frozen Planet?  It is so neat!  I am in awe of our planet!
