Monday morning I came home after a 7 mile run to a cell phone that said I had 12 missed calls.
My brothers and sisters were trying to tell me that our Grandpa was in the Emergency Room.
Evidently he had pneumonia, the infection spread and things went down hill fast.
He is still in the ICU. Sedated. On a ventilator.
I was at the hospital all day Monday and all day Tuesday.
I love him.
And I’m not the only one.
You should see the waiting room everyday! All the little ones are not there because they are not allowed in, but the adults have all been there.
Grandma and Grandpa have been together for 61 years.
They have three sons (my Dad is on the left). They put on smiles for my picture, but there were three worried faces sitting at that table.
They also had a daughter, Aunt Katy. She died when she was 25 years old. From pneumonia and complications from the infection. Needless to say, this is bringing up a lot of feelings for everyone. AND the nurse’s name yesterday was KATE! Ugh.
Keep our family in your thoughts.
We want Grandpa home calling everyone “Big Bird” and threatening to give knuckle sandwiches (in our family, when you get someone by the head and playfully rub your middle knuckle on their head)!
