The spring also included my younger sister graduating with her bachelors. And my sister-in-law Becky graduating from nursing school.

Organizing Hell

Yesterday started with some cardio!

  • 3 mile run on treadmill
  • 10 minute incline power walk
  • 15 minutes on elliptical

It was a great way to start the day because my meals when down hill pretty fast and then I got myself into organizing hell!

Here’s what happened.

First, it’s Justin’s fault.

2011December 008

He left me in a house filled with chocolate to go see a movie with his Dad.  In order to keep myself from eating all of said chocolate, I thought I would busy myself with an organizational project I have been thinking about.

The goal was:

  • Collect all the yarn in the house and organize it in one location.  I had the most hideous pile of yarn, yarn scraps and unfinished yarn projects beside our bed, on the floor.  There were baskets and bags and just a total mess.  Plus there were other piles of yarn all over the house, including the garage!

In order to make this happen, I had a very simple plan.

  • Empty contents of spare bedroom closet and remove storage shelves from closet.
  • Empty contents of black wire shelving in laundry room and reconfigure to fit in spare bedroom closet.
  • Take storage shelves that were originally in spare bedroom closet and put them in laundry room.

Here are the parts of that failed:

1. I had no plan for the crap that came out of the spare bedroom closet and now we are looking at this:

2011December 001

2. I didn’t plan on how I was going to stack the shelving units that came out of the spare bedroom closet.  I thought they would just sit on top of each other. Wrong…..and any parts that are required for making them stack are long gone.  So, we went from floor to ceiling storage in the laundry room to two shelves. Not going to work.

2011December 007

The part that did work is that all the yarn in the house is now organized in one location!  I didn’t realize I had so much yarn!

2011December 004

I created a huge mess and we go out of town tomorrow!

2011December 003

But look how neat and nice all my yarn looks!

2011December 006

I thought Justin’s head might explode when he saw the mess and the only thing that came out of it was that my yarn was organized!

I ended the day by going over to a friend’s house and spending time with friends from high school.

2011December 009

Facebook keeps us all connected, but it’s good to see them in person at least once a year too!

2011December 012

Several people had already left by the time I remembered to get my camera out. Sad smile

It was fun to see everyone and catch up.

Okay, I better get busy. I have a lot to do before we leave tomorrow!  Happy Tuesday!

Christmas Recap

I am sitting here this morning looking through pictures and thinking about all the fun we had over the past couple of days.  I feel so full of love.

2011December 032

It’s only now, in my mid 30’s, that I really appreciate how close we all live and that we get to see ALL of our family during the holiday. (It used to seem like such a chore)

I was so busy the past two days, that I couldn’t possibly pack it all into one post, so here are the highlights!

2011December 026

I wore this on Christmas Eve.  Calvin Klein gold, glittery sweater; Chelsea & Violet burnt orange skinny jeans; Ugg boots. This was my Christmas gift to myself!

Now that I look at the pictures, I look a little Santa Claus-y! ha!

Oh well, it was festive and really comfortable, so it’s a keeper.  Probably won’t wear those pieces together again, though.

We spent Christmas Eve with Justin’s Dad and Family.  There were lots of great gifts exchanged and we had a soup buffet for dinner.  You know me, I Love Soup! I was in heaven (that must be why I didn’t take a picture of it!).  I brought my chicken noodle soup, Justin’s step sister, Jennifer, brought 15 bean soup, and Justin’s Stepmom, Jane (in above picture) made vegetable soup.

It was a fun night!

Christmas morning, we went to my Mom’s for biscuits and gravy and gifts.  2011December 002

She has been making biscuits and gravy for Christmas morning since I was a kid.  It’s a pretty great tradition and one that we started at our house with our group home clients, as well.  We did it with them Chistmas Eve morning.

2011December 006

Oops! Did you accidently lick your computer screen?!

2011December 009

Gifts were exchanged and James, my brother, handed Justin and I a card and Autumn and Kevin a card.  It started off as a super sweet card that he had hand written a super sweet note in, but then there was a little note taped to the back that let us know he had set up clues around the house directing us to other notes and it was A RACE to find our gift!  Justin and I immediately took off!

2011December 012

We won!  It was such a fun way to give a gift!

We spent the next part of our day at my Dad’s house.

2011December 016

We had some yummy food and then did the $10 gift game.

2011December 017

My plate looks a little sparse, but I don’t like my food to touch and I don’t want to fill up on real food so I can eat more CANDY!

2011December 020

Justin and I brought mouse pads and coffee mugs with our pictures on it for the $10 gift game. The coffee mugs also say “I Love Justin and Stacy”.  My sister and Stepmom were the lucky ones that got to take them home!

2011December 0232011December 027

We did our big gift exchange and then, time just flew by, and it was time to get home.

Look at my new soup pot!!

Can’t wait to make some soup in that!

Our brother, Colt, had to work this year and he was definitely missed.

2011December 034

We both were so tired by the time we got home.  It was a fun couple of days for sure!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday as much as we did!

Next up: NEW ORLEANS!!

Christmas Eve 2011!

2011December 008

Yesterday was a gloriously lazy day.  I didn’t get out of my pajamas until around 3pm when I decided to run up to Dillard’s and buy myself a Christmas present! (pictures to come soon!)

I started the day off with egg whites with canadian bacon and cheddar cheese (what is my deal with cheese this week?).

2011December 009

Lunch was a taco salad with turkey meat.

2011December 013

And dinner was at Justin’s Dad’s house.  His step brother, Austin, is in town and wanted chicken and rice, which is a childhood favorite of his but his wife wanted a mexican shredded chicken crockpot meal.  So we had both!

2011December 018

I must say, I am glad they had the disagreement over what to eat because those are two of my favorite foods in one meal!

I wore the boots I bought from Zappos (boyfriend jeans and sweater are from The Loft, scarf is made by ME!).  Love those boots!

2011December 015

Christmas cookies were on the menu for dessert and Justin and Austin drank a lunchbox!

2011December 019

We headed to bed pretty much as soon as we got home.  Busy day today so I better get to it!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve filled with lots of love and laughter and family and Christmas cookies!
