21 Days Out

THREE WEEKS OUT! Whoa!

Yesterday was a super busy day.  I didn’t even have time to post.  Sorry about that.  Thursday was even crazier, so I won’t waste this whole post reliving that day except to say I ended the night with getting sprayed tanned by my neighbor.  I am getting some pictures taken today so I wanted a little color. I ate all the same stuff, got all my workouts in and collapsed into bed super early.

I’ve been getting up at 5:15-5:30a, but yesterday I slept until the alarm woke me up at 6:00am (slacker).  I had laundry to tend to and dishes (and Facebooking) so before I knew it was time to get outside and run. It was beautiful here yesterday.  The sun was out and it was warm.  My five miles felt so good and I came back and leashed up the girls and took them for their walk.

After working for a bit, it was time to kiss Justin goodbye for the day as he headed out to play golf.  I left soon after him to train with Diana.  After my back workout, we worked on posing.

2011April 001On my agenda for yesterday was to buy a new pair of jeans.  All my jeans are baggy and we were going out last night.  I am working so hard on my body and don’t want to walk around with a frumpy butt anymore!  I have been putting off buying any clothes, but jeans were a necessity.  I am happy to report that I purchased the smallest size I have ever purchased in my life, SIZE TWO! I actually did a little dance in the dressing room.  I checked the tags multiple times to make sure I was seeing the number correctly.  I wanted to buy like 80 pairs!  I ended up buying two pairs of jeans, a dress and three shirts.  Shopping sure is fun when you feel good about your size! (by the way, I was at The Loft)

When I started with Diana, in May of 2009, I wore a size 16 (even though I squeezed myself into my 14’s and said that was my size) and now I wear a TWO?!!!  *high five*

I wore the dress last night for our date.

After shopping, I headed to another store to pickup a wedding gift for a friend and then to the grocery store.  I still had two meals to eat before we left for out date night, so as soon as I got home, I started cooking brussel sprouts and a turkey burger. Then an hour later, I powered down some asparagus and egg whites.  Believe it or not, I was actually hungry for those egg whites and asparagus!

There weren’t any movies either of us were dying to see so we headed to our favorite wine place and I watched Justin do a wine tasting and we got caught up on the lives of two of our favorite people that work there.  We have really missed going there and visiting with everyone.  We used to go weekly for a tasting and maybe a glass (or bottle) of wine so we have gotten to know the people that work there and the couple that own it.  I’m looking forward to going back when the competition is over.

After the tasting, we called my Mom and Stepdad to see what they were up to and they were hanging out at Buffalo Wild Wings, having a beer and eating dinner (not what I expected my Mom to say when I called! ha!)!  We met them up there and visited over beer and water.

We ended the night with dinner.  We went to Trezo Mare since we had such a good experience there several weeks ago.  They actually fixed my food the way I asked (remember the salmon salad).  I forgot to take a picture last night, but I ate a small salad (dark greens, red onion, cucumbers, no dressing), tilapia (plain with lemon wedges on the side) and asparagus (plain).  It was yummy!

That was my Friday!  Hope everyone had a great day!  It is going to be another beautiful day here so I better get out there and start it off with an awesome run!

23 Days Out

Yesterday was a great day.  A high carb GREAT day!  Which means I am still filled up with energy today. Hooray!  Good thing too because I have a busy day ahead of me.

News Update: I have a suit!  I’ll take my progress pictures in it this Sunday so you all can see it.  Man, that other suit was waaaay too small after trying this one on.  It was like a suit for a little kid compared to this suit.  What was I thinking?!  The new suit is very special too because it belonged to another client of Diana’s.  She went through her transformation the same time I did in 2009 and got on stage that year in THIS suit and won TWO trophies!  It’s neat that she is handing it down to me to carry the torch of the “Transformation Suit” (as we are now calling it).  Just goes to show that great situations can come from bad situations.

I did more posing with Diana yesterday.  The leaner I get the more loose skin shows up. Ugh! I can’t believe I have lose skin.  I don’t even have any kids to blame it on!  It is what it is.  I just have to be super aware of my stomach while on stage.  I will be thinking “TALL” while I’m up there, shoulders back, stretch that stomach out! LOL!

After trying on my new suit, I stuck around and talked with a couple of girls who are also competing.  We were mapping out our day together.  It is going to be so much fun!  Getting on stage is just going to be the icing on the cake.  The friendships I am developing because of this experience, I’ll have for life!

  • Morning Cardio: 60 minutes on treadmill
  • Weights: Hammies and Glutes (with Diana)
  • Round 2 Cardio: 30 minutes on treadmill, 30 minutes on spin bike

I lost another 1% body fat!  We are taking measurements every week now and while the scale isn’t moving (due to that T.O.M. in a few days) my body fat did!  *high five*

24 Days Out

Having a hard time getting this post started this morning. I feel drained and bloated and just want a chocolate chip cookie (or 10), you know what that means! Boo!  We’ll see what this month’s “T.O.M.” is like.  I’m supposed to start this weekend and of course I am planning to get some photos taken at the last WBFF workshop.  They are having a different photographer come by for the minishoots so we have the opportunity to meet him and get more experience with getting our pictures taken!  I need all the help I can get.  I am so awkward with posing. Hope the bloat goes down before then!

Diana and I are working on my walk and posing before every workout now.   It’s a workout in itself!

I need to make a list of all the things I need or want to do before the show so I can feel organized and be able cross things off.  I really want to get some nice pictures taken, like a real photo shoot with wardrobe changes and the whole deal, but my body is still a work in progress.  I think I will book something for the day before or after the show.  Not sure which would be better.  Any recommendations?

I also need a massage, another facial, another waxing, tanning, mani, pedi, and a hair cut.  I still have 3 weeks, but I need to get appointments made because I know it’s going to go fast!

Oh, yeah, and I still need a suit!  I am trying several on today that a couple girls have left for me at Hitch Fit.  Keep your fingers crossed that one of them look good!

Yesterday, was a tired day.  I just felt like I was walking through mud all day.  Part of it was hormones and part of it was low carbs.  Justin played golf and I literally planted myself in our recliner with my laptop and didn’t move for like 3 hours!  I just felt so tired.

Workouts:

  • Morning Cardio: 60 minutes on the elliptical
  • Weights: Biceps and Triceps (home)
  • Round 2 Cardio: Cardio Class at the karate school

I really had to drag myself to the karate school.  I whined to asked Justin what he thought I should do, because I really did not want to go but if I didn’t go to the class, I was headed straight to my bed.  He said to go because it’s not going to get any easier. I just have to push through these hard days!  He was so right and I felt so much better when I got home!

Like I said before, I was super tired which usually goes hand in hand with being super snacky!  I ate way too many almonds. Darn it! Those almonds are my enemy right now! I also snacked on whole pickles (like two at time!).  Per Justin’s request, I am trying to limit the amount of artificial sweetener I am eating.  (I don’t think I need to explain why!)  So, I tried to not chew very much gum or eat any Walden Farms condiments yesterday. The gum was hard!  Today is a high carb day! Yay!

Justin took some backs shots of me yesterday while we were working out.  The two on the left are with no flash and then the two on the right are with it.  We took these shots because he took some of me in the pushup part of the burpees and when I saw them, I was like, “Whoa, I had no idea my back looked like that?!”

Seriously, I had no idea you could see the muscles in my back like that!  I love it!  I take progress pictures each week, but because of the lighting my back doesn’t show up.  I am very excited by what I am seeing!

26 Days Out

Yay, for Mondays!  Time to make a fresh list of to-do’s and get busy!

I had a wonderful Easter yesterday with my Mom’s side of the family.  We headed over there for an afternoon meal.  I made that brownie/cream cheese/strawberry dessert again to take over there along with my Tupperware of chicken and green beans.  Everyone was so supportive and genuinely interested in what I was doing and how everything was going.  It was all so positive. 

My sister had everyone over to her place that evening for more desserts and to see my nephews have their Easter celebration from the Easter bunny.  I enjoyed looking at all the yummy treats!

My sister had peanut butter M&M’s, my FAVORITE girl scout cookies, cupcakes, other people had brought cakes and cookies, my dessert from earlier was there along with a cheesecake from my Mom’s, oh, and not to mention all the Easter candy for the boys!!  I stuck a big fat wad of gum in my mouth and let it all go!  Soon enough I will have those treats!  Justin was upset that I didn’t bring him a cupcake.  Honestly, all those sweets were off-limits in my mind.  I didn’t even think about taking one home!  I have a habit of thinking of Justin and I as one, so whatever I can’t have, he can’t have.  Not true in this case, he wanted a cupcake darn it!

I rested yesterday from any working out.  It was a pretty busy day and I was tired all day so I needed the rest.  Back at it today!

27 Days Out

Happy Easter!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend no matter what or how you celebrate!  If nothing else, I hope you all get together with family and eat lots of candy for ME!!

They are for my nephews.  There is no temptation that can get me off track right now.  I am focused!

Yesterday was great!  My morning cardio consisted of running at the park with some friends, Tim and Allison. (An awesome blogger would have a picture of said friends to insert here! Fail!)   This is a pretty neat story!  I went to high school with the guy, Tim.  We have had no communication since we graduated until last year through Facebook.  I decided to look him up one day, or saw him on someone else’s page, or something, either way we became Facebook friends.  His girlfriend (they are now married) got my attention by all her sweet and funny comments on his page, so I decided to check her out! Turns out she was into competing in figure and was actually in competition prep AND had a blog!! (HER blog gave me the idea to do a blog about comp prep!).  I sent her a private message about competing and we started talking!  Now we are great friends!  I just adore her (Holla, Allison!)!  She has been a huge support and friend during this whole process.  She is a personal trainer, yoga instructor, Mom, wife, competitor!  Just an all around amazing woman!

So, that was a fun way to start my day!

Justin left for the day to go play golf not long after I got home.  And he ran into Tim and Allison at the golf course!! While he was gone, I did some cleaning, lifted weights and then hopped on the treadmill for round 2 of cardio!

As soon as he got home, it was time to get going on dinner.  His Dad and Stepmom came over last night and we fixed this meal.  We had a great time visiting with them.

Meal #5: Chicken with salad (didn’t take a picture).  I enjoyed my usual chicken with mustard and salad while everyone ate the yummy brisket, sweet potatoes and salad I had prepared.

It was a pretty boring day of food for me.  I think I got out my need for cooking in the dinner meal!

I also made myself some fat free/sugar free pudding to eat while everyone enjoyed their dessert!  It looks like I forgot to eat one of my carb meals!  I can’t believe it!  I got busy making dinner and forgot my last carb meal!

I Miss Cooking!

I made this last night:

My In-laws came over for dinner last night and we made this brisket recipe from The Pioneer Woman, mashed sweet potatoes, a salad and then this yummy dessert!

I used the recipe from Dine Without Whine who got it from Betty Crocker. I swapped the sugar cookie for a brownie base:

Crust:

  • Boxed Brownie mix.  I used Betty Crocker, Dark Chocolate Premium Brownie Mix. 

Filling:

  • 1 cup white vanilla baking chips (I used white chocolate chips)
  • 1 8oz package cream cheese, softened

Topping:

  • 4 cups sliced fresh strawberries (It took two packages)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 10-12 drops of red food color (I did not do this)

1. Heat oven to 350oF. Spray bottom only of 15x10x1 or 13x9 inch pan (I used 11x7) with cooking spray. In large bowl, make brownies and bake as directed on package. Cool completely.

2. In small microwaveable bowl, microwave baking chips until melted (it took me two times at 30 seconds each) and can be stirred smooth.  In medium bowl, beat cream cheese with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth.  Stir in melted chips until blended. (I dumped my block of cream cheese right in my bowl of white chocolate and beat with hand mixer!) Spread mixture over crust. Refrigerate while making topping.

3. In small bowl, crush 1 cup of strawberries.  In 2-quart saucepan, mix sugar and cornstarch.  Stir in crushed strawberries and 1/3 cup water.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils and thickens. Stir in food coloring (I did not do this step.) Let cool for 10 minutes, then gently stir in remaining sliced strawberries (I didn’t let it cool for exactly 10 minutes.  Just as my mother-in-law got them sliced, we added them to the pot!). Spoon topping over filling.  Refrigerate 1 hour or until set. Store covered in the refrigerator.

28 Days Out

Happy Saturday! Here is a picture of my dyed eyebrows!  Both are no makeup, which seems to be the only way I take pictures lately.  Geesh! The one on the left is from March 30th after a hair cut and then the one on the right is with sweaty hair after my run yesterday.  Nice time to take a picture! ha! Anyway, big difference, huh?!  I am getting more used to them and they aren’t shocking to anyone but Justin and I so that’s good.

I’m now 4 WEEKS OUT from the competition!  Holy Crap!

Oh, and I have to get a new suit!  I tried my suit on for Diana yesterday and she said it’s too small…like it’s made for someone who is 5’2”-5’3”, not 5’5”.  I knew it felt small the two times I have tried it on, but I just kept thinking I was going to get that small by the show date.  The height thing never crossed my mind!

Luckily, my fellow competitor girlfriends are coming to the rescue and several have already offered up extra suits they have!  So, next week, I’ll be trying on suits and see if one of them will work.  If they don’t, I’ll just have to order a new one.  I am so bummed because my friend took all that time and put all those Swarovski crystals on it.  I really wanted to wear THAT one!  I was going to try to make it work, by adding a longer string to it that hooks to the bottoms, but even the bottoms are just too small which makes my butt look big!

I’m trying not to be stressed about it.  It will all work out! (But you know I’m stressed about it!)

Yesterday was a no energy day, but I still managed to push through.

I had a great training session with Diana and posing practice went great.  I love how supported I feel at Hitch Fit.  Diana and everyone down there always has such positive things to say to keep me motivated.  They give me energy to push harder!!

Today’s a high carb day! yay!  More cardio! More weights! Pluggin’ along! I’m in the home stretch!
