51 Days Out

HF Wkshp 063-2
Photo taken By Will Patterson at the WBFF workshop.
It’s the last day of March!  What a great month it has been.  I feel like I have made major progress this month.  Exercise and good food, make for a healthy body and, more importantly, a happy brain!  I woke up 30 minutes before the alarm, AGAIN, and I’m on my second (big) cup of coffee. Today is going to be a great day!
I had the one of the best workouts with Diana yesterday!  She put me in a weighted vest then strapped the cable machine (with about 20 or 30 lbs loaded on each cable) to each side of it and I did my entire workout against resistance.  Holy core!  It was hamstrings and glutes day so she had me doing lunges, deep squats, step ups….you get the idea but the whole time I had to keep my core super tight to keep myself balanced or the cables would pull be back.  When she took that vest off of me, I was soaked from head to toe!  It was super hard, but felt so GREAT!
Workouts:
  • Morning cardio
    • 5 minute warmup on elliptical (I don’t know why I even bothered)
    • 55 minutes on treadmill. Ran 5 miles and alternated the incline between flat and 10%.
  • Trained hamstrings and glutes with Diana
  • Evening Cardio
    • 45 minutes on elliptical

I spent a lot of time day dreaming about what I will eat after the competition.  Justin and I discussed it numerous times throughout the day like it was a serious life decision we were making!  I love that he indulges me and lets me talk it all out!  I’m sure he really wanted to talk about nachos and chocolate all day!

I don’t think I want to go to a restaurant because it will be so late and I’m pretty sure I will have an upset stomach after I eat.  I have a gluten issue and a dairy issue so no matter what I eat it’s going to hurt (and probably come right back out – sorry)!

I am planning on NACHOS!  I want a big fat plate of loaded nachos (beef, beans, liquid cheese, sour cream, the WORKS!)!  They are always better at home anyway, I can really pile on the toppings!  More than a meal, I want lots of chocolate.  I am already planning what treats I will buy and what treats I will ask others to make! (hint, hint family that reads this blog!)

52 Days Out

This morning is starting out fabulously!  I awoke 30 minutes before my alarm was to go off!  I feel ahead of the game and ready to dominate this day.  (can you tell yesterday was a high carb day?)

2011March 010 - Copy

Had to throw in a cute pic of the girls.  Piper (the little one) always looks a little sassy!

I was dragging yesterday morning.  I was coming off three low carb days and I was hungry and tired.  I did my fasted morning cardio and then my plan was to eat my usual oats with protein and then lift weights, but I felt so run down and hungry that I thought it was best to keep refueling my body. I ended up just taking a rest day.  Looking back at my log, I did the same thing last week.  Tuesdays must be my day to rest and restore!

Workouts:

  • Morning Cardio
    • 30 minutes on elliptical
    • 30 minutes on spin bike

Meals:

Meal #2: I am loving my new bread: Rudy’s

Meal #6: Egg whites, left over ground turkey, left over veggies from Monday’s stir fry and parmesan garlic popcorn seasoning sprinkled on the top! So GOOD!

2011March 018

I snacked on whole pickles, sugar free Jell-O and dessert gum yesterday.  I was HUNGRY all day!

Besides eating and not working out, we ran some errands and then I got my hair cut. (obviously, I was too run down to apply make up yesterday)

We also renewed our CPR and first aid certifications.  I always feel good after getting a refresher on that stuff.  We have to renew every two years and it seems like they always change something in that time period.

After eating my big fat omelette, I settled in for the Biggest Loser and went to bed early!

53 Days Out

HF Wkshp 064

Another Will Patterson shot from the mini shoot.  Not my favorite.

Yesterday was another low carb day and I was starting to feel it.  Tired.

Workouts:

  • 60 minutes fasted morning cardio:
    • 15 minutes on elliptical
    • 30 minutes jogging on treadmill
    • 15 minutes on elliptical
  • At home weights - Back
  • 45 minutes evening cardio – elliptical

Justin lifted weights with me and then he did an Insanity DVD while I laid on the couch and almost fell asleep cheered him on.

Food:

Meal #1: Oats with protein

2011March 001

Meal #2: Egg whites

2011March 002

Meal #3:

2011March 002

Meal #4:

2011March 004

Meal #5: Shrimp stir fry

2011March 010

I felt snacky most of the day.  I ate one whole pickle, 24 almonds, two sugar free Jell-Os and lots of sugar free gum!  I never felt hungry (because I eat a ton of food) but just that nagging, snacky feeling!

I saved my shrimp stir fry for after my evening cardio as a treat.  I can not find the words to describe the yumminess of this meal!  Adding peas and petite green beans just put this, already favorite dish, over the top!  Those two veggies are now a staple in my stir fry’s!

The third low carb day in a row is always the hardest, but I made it through and now I get to enjoy today’s high carb day! Bring on the sweet potatoes!

54 Days

HF Wkshp 062

Will Patterson emailed me the pictures he took last night and I LOVE them!  Of course, I can pick them apart, but I am only going to focus on the positive!  I am half way through my competition prep and have made tons of progress.  I have 8 weeks to go and can’t wait to see how my body continues to transform.

I’ll post a different picture each day (there are only 4), so I don’t take up an entire post with these pictures!

Yesterday, was a relaxing day.  If you read yesterday’s post, you know our cleaning lady came  and I took progress pics (in a hurry!). I love starting the week with a clean house.  I may keep her FOREVER!

The only other thing I did yesterday was COOK!  I used our in-door grill, since it’s evidently winter again, and grilled chicken and veggies.  I grilled up six chicken breasts for me and two packages of chicken thighs for Justin.  The veggies were bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and asparagus. It was yummy!  There is plenty of leftover chicken, but we took care of the veggies!

Workouts:

  • Lifted weights – tris and bis and a little Quad
  • 40 minutes on elliptical

Food:

Meal #1: Oats with protein

2011March 004

Meal #2: Egg whites and gluten free toast

8 Weeks Out Progress Pics

2011March 0082011March 009

Progress pictures are up!  So, this is kind of funny.  Our cleaning lady was pulling into our driveway as Justin was taking these pictures!  So, we were rushing!  I didn’t get flexed as much as I normally do.  You can really tell in my legs and back.  I guess that will make next week’s pictures look even better!

My belly fat has definitely come down and my abs are starting to make their appearance.  The tan really helps though, right?  It’s amazing how much better everything looks with a tan!

I could see the girl walking up our sidewalk as I’m trying to hold the above “relaxed” poses!  Then, I high-tailed it to the bedroom to put some clothes on!

This picture was taken by Will Patterson at the WBFF workshop I attended yesterday.  It was so fun!  All the girls are so nice and supportive.  There are quite a few of us that are doing this for the first time.  It was nice to talk to others that are feeling the nervousness setting in but also celebrating the changes we are seeing from all the hard work.  It was just an awesome day.  We spent a lot of time practicing our poses and walking in our shoes.  I feel a lot better about all that now.  Diana was giving great feedback on our individual walks.

After the seminar, Will Patterson was set up in the back to do mini-shoots with us (which is why I got spray tanned!).  That was fun.  I had no idea what I was doing, or what poses look good, but it was fun and good experience.  I am excited to get them back and see how they turned out.

I was exhausted by the time I got home!  So much excitement all day!  I ended up not lifting weights or doing my second round of cardio. Bad.  I must say, my body feels like I did a workout though! My back is sore this morning from all the posing!  We have to stick our fannies out so much, it’s hard on the lower back!  I need to do that A LOT more!

Workouts:

  • Morning cardio
    • 15 minute warm-up on elliptical
    • 30 minutes jogging on treadmill
    • 15 minute cool-down on elliptical

I burned about 500 calories.

Meals:

Meal #1: Oats with protein

Meal #2: Oats with protein

2011March 004

Meal #3: One slice gluten free bread, smoke turkey (deli meat), red bell peppers. I ate this during the workshop, out of baggies and didn’t get a picture. It looked like this only minus one of the bread slices and the plate, oh and the onion, spinach, and mustard!

2011March 002

Meal #4: Ground turkey stir fry

2011March 001

Meal #5: Salad with smoke turkey (deli meat)

2011March 003

I ate two sugar free Jell-O cups, two whole pickles and lots of dessert gum!  I was extra hungry yesterday for some reason.  I felt really snacky.  I wanted to grab a whole bag of chips and eat them!  BUT! I didn’t. I went to bed and played Spider Solitaire and watched TV, hungry, until I fell asleep.

Last night was date night!  I dressed more casual as we went to a movie and then to Hereford House.  Plus it was COLD. So, I didn’t feel like freezing in a dress!

57 Days Out

2011March 007

I got a little darker last night!  I ran over to my neighbor’s house and we spray tanned each other!  This picture was taken this morning after I had rinsed off the super dark part of the tan.  (Obviously, I’m not flexed. Saving that look for progress pics on Sunday!) She does it for a living.  I have to stay it’s pretty nice having a professional spray tanner living across the street!  We are both attending a seminar tomorrow for the competition and they are offering mini photo shoots to all of us.  I want to get a couple of pictures but was in desperate need of a tan!  Tina felt the same way, but needed someone to spray her.  So, it worked out for both of us!

I am looking forward to taking my progress pictures on Sunday with a tan!  Stay tuned.

58 Days Out

This week is flying!  It’s already Thursday!

2011March 013

Yesterday morning started like any other day, I woke at my normal hour (6am), drank coffee, cleaned the kitchen, started laundry, the norm.  I took the girls to the groomer, then came home to run.  I got almost 2 miles in and this dog came running wildly out from behind a house.  Not a scary run, like a wild, WOO-HOO, I ESCAPED run. (pretty funny looking, actually!) So, I wasn’t scared of her, I was excited for her, for a minute, until I realized that there was no one chasing after her and she was now my running buddy.  She stayed with me for the rest of my run.  Which would not have been a problem except she obviously had not been out in the world very much because she had no caution towards cars or anything.  She was running like a crazy maniac back and forth across the street, all around me, up around houses, into their back yard and I was nervous she was going to get hit by a car!  She was really slowing me down because I found myself watching out for her most of the time.  I kept telling her to go home and a couple of times I thought she had and then, nope, here she came sprinting up behind me.

I ended up not getting in my 5th mile because I ran out of time.  She followed me home and I tried to have her come to me so I could check her tags and take her home, but she wouldn’t come to me.  She wasn’t skittish, she was playful and didn’t want to get caught.  I have learned my lesson with worrying over larger dogs being lose in the neighborhood (well, I may have worried a little).  They always find their way home (and quicker than I find it)!  So, I went inside and she enjoyed her freedom (and then hopefully went home!)

2011March 015

I trained with Diana yesterday. She weighed me in and took my body fat measurement.  I am down another 2 lbs on the scale and another 2% body fat!  I am thrilled.  Of course, I wanted a 3% body fat decrease, but 2% is great!  I am really starting to see muscles that I’ve never seen before and that is exciting.  I am right on track!

Yesterday was a high carb day, which meant I felt like I was eating all….day….long.

Meal #1: oats with protein

2011March 004

Meal #2: Egg whites and 2 slices gluten free toast

2011March 019

Meal #3: Chicken breast (baked with spicy mustard), sweet potato chips, salad

I LOVE stir fry’s!  I will definitely be eating this one again today!  So Yummy!

By the way, I am back to eating artificial sweetener and feel fine. I ate a sugar free Jell-O yesterday, protein powder, S.F. BBQ sauce, S.F. Italian dressing, Xtend and felt fine this morning.
