Freeeeeeezing Rain

YIKES!  Freezing Rain is the worst.  At least snow is visible and pretty, freezing rain is hidden and scary!  You’re not sure if it’s really ice or just wet until you are ON IT and then it’s too late! The freezing rain warning was all over the news last night.  The day hab, where our clients go, even called last night and canceled for today.  So, I’m pretty nervous to even attempt to drive to the gym! I’m waiting until day light to see what it’s like on my streets.  I am supposed to train with Diana this morning, but I am not driving 25 minutes in freezing rain.  I’ll workout at home.

The yarn I have been waiting on for weeks, finally came in!  I have been busy all weekend trying to get hats, scarves and fingerless gloves made for patiently waiting people!  I finished up a project yesterday.  I knitted a lot of more of it than crocheted, but I really like it. I am liking the fingerless gloves knitted.  They come out a little thinner, but more stretchy.  I really shouldn’t take pictures at 6am, but you know, whatev!

Besides knitting and crocheting, I ATE!  I also drank a gallon of water.  To help me remember to drink all my water, I fill up a gallon pitcher and then use that to fill my water bottle throughout the day!

I felt great yesterday.  I chewed some dessert gum after meals to give me that little bit of sweetness I like after I eat.  I reeeeally like that gum!

16 Weeks Out!

2011January 026I am officially 16 weeks out from the WBFF competition!

I am really excited this year!  I know I can do it!  I know this process is going to test me mentally, but I am prepared to fight back!  When that little voice tells me I am too tired or too sore or too hungry, I am going to remind myself that I want to be able to stand on that stage on May 21st and KNOW I gave it 100%.

I read a great blog post the other day.  The girl was standing back stage in the line up with the other competitors, wishing she had not had those extra cheats or that she would have done just a little more cardio.  She said she knew she had only given it 90%.   I don’t want to have those thoughts.  I want to stand in the line up knowing I gave it everything.

Yesterday was a great rest day and today will be as well.  I am starting my six days a week of working out on Monday, so I am resting up this weekend! I may do some cardio today.  I woke up to an Insanity infomercial and it kind of got me wanting to do one of those workouts today!

(I just noticed I still have a nutcracker by our fireplace!!  LOL!)

 

 

I stuck to my meal plan yesterday.  It looked like this:

This was really good (after adding the hot salsa).  Next time I will make it with less spinach and add some red bell peppers.  The spinach was a little overwhelming!

Happy Saturday!

2011January 014Good Morning!  I have been waking up at 5:30am for the past several days without an alarm!  The first couple were because my cat thought I needed to be awake and told me so by scratching me in the FACE (let me tell you, that is not a pleasant way to wake up)!  Now I just seem to be waking up at that time on my own (probably out of fear that I’m going to get scratched in the FACE).  It’s kind of nice because I don’t have to hear the alarm and it gives me more time to mess around on the computer and drink coffee before I do morning cardio.  So, thank you, Brutis, for waking up me up so early (by scratching me in the FACE)!

Of course, if the girls see me taking a picture of Brutis, they want their picture taken too!  Good Morning, Girls!

I completely ran out of time yesterday to post. So, I’ll just sum up Thursday for ya, since I know you don’t want to miss out on a day! 

My workout looked like this:

  • Morning cardio – 40 minutes
  • Went to the warehouse and did this circuit 4 times:
    • Overhead Press
    • Walking lunges
    • Lateral/Medial Lunges
    • Pushup/side plank
    • Pull ups (assisted)
    • Cable bicep curls
    • Overhead side bends with band
    • Kettlebell side bends
  • Cardio machine - hard as I could for 5 minutes then abs for 5 minutes (repeat twice)
  • Treadmill (incline 10, pace 7.0) run for as long as I could (about 30 seconds!) then jump off, repeat 10 times

My diet was pretty much the usual….some oats, some egg whites, some brown rice and then for dinner:

Okay, so that was Thursday.  Moving onto the star of this post, FRIDAY!  I had a great day!  My legs were still pretty sore, but not “I-feel-nauseous” sore!

My workout looked like this:

  • Morning cardio – 40 minutes
  • Train with Diana
    • Flat bench
    • Burpee with overhead press
    • Pull ups (assisted)
    • One arm row
    • Front/side shoulder raises
    • Rear delt flyes
    • Alternating side planks with dumb bells
    • Pull up hops
    • Barbell Bicep curls
    • Skull crushers

When I got home, Justin’s Mom was pulling up at the same time, so that was a fun surprise!  We got to visit with her for a while.

My diet looked like this:

Last night was date night and we went to the movies and then over to my younger sister’s house.  So, I ate oats and protein before we left, which kept me satisfied through the whole movie!  Then, on the way out to my sister’s place, I ate the bag of broccoli and green peppers and drank my protein.  It worked out perfect!

We saw The Fighter and it is a terrific movie!  I highly recommend it!  We went over to my sister’s to pick up my computer, that her fiancĂ© had fixed for me (remember the Dell that I thought was dead, IT’S NOT thanks to Matt!), and to chat for a little while.  We ended up playing Kinect and it was so fun!  We definitely need to get one now!  Justin and I both were sweating and out of breath after about 30 seconds of playing!

Welcome back!

It was so great to walk in to HitchFit yesterday and feel so loved!  It’s been a little less than a year since I have been there and I was greeted with such a warm welcome by everyone!

As a bonus, I got to meet Christy (a fellow blogger) face to face as I gave her the scarf set she had ordered!  That was fun!  She is also a HitchFit client. She worked with Stephanie Terry and had an amazing transformation!  You looked fantastic, Christy!  Holla! 

Diana and I spent the first 30 minutes chatting about what I have been doing with my diet and exercise lately and what the plan will be moving forward.  She took my measurements, weight and pictures and then we got to the workout.  She had me do legs:

  • Squats on the smith machine
  • Weighted step ups
  • Weighted sit squats
  • Plyo Lunges
  • Dead lifts
  • Weighted reverse lunges
  • Step ups with kick back

I feel like I am leaving out an exercise.  That will probably be the norm because I am so exhausted by the time I get done, it’s hard to remember what I even did!!

I am sore this morning! I forgot how much I enjoy training with Diana.  She just takes all the thinking out of the workout for me.  I just get to TRAIN!!  She knows how much I can lift and how far she can push me and that makes a big difference too.  She sets everything up and I just do the work.  I LOVE that!

That was fun!

NOT!  Yesterday was a rough day!  Between my cramps and my cold, there was some majoring suffering going on.  BUT, I am feeling much better this morning!  The cold is still hovering but I don’t have a heavy head so I’m good to go in the gym today!  After all, today is my first day back with Diana! Woot!

I am in the exact same position I was in last year when I started back with her!  Wishing I wasn’t retaining water for my weigh in and body measurements, but excited that next week will show a great loss! ha! 

After laying around for four (4) days, I’m ready to get moving around.

This is going to be a pretty boring post.  I didn’t do anything yesterday. There was no exercise.  Actually there was very little movement at all!  I was laid up with my heating pad all day.  I couldn’t even crochet or knit (well, just one hat and one ear warmer)!

I think that about does it.  I slept a lot yesterday and my appetite just wasn’t there.  I know I snacked on some saltines and some Chocolate Chex cereal to help the Aleve go down, but that’s about it.

I am ready to get back on my routine today and feel like myself again!

One girl and a Heating Pad

Oh boy! Remember my little pink comment yesterday?   It happened and now I wish it would go away!  Remember how I said I have two days in bed with a heating pad. Well, yesterday was day #1 and today will be day #2!  It stinks having cramps and a cold!  I wanted to get my cramps out of the way before tomorrow (when I start with Diana) and I’m thankful that happened, but I am miserable!

I had some major cravings yesterday for powdered donuts, cupcakes, cookies and peanut butter M&M’s, but I ate none of it.  Instead, I Googled cupcakes, so I could click on “images” and stare at pages and pages of cupcakes.  (I did the same thing with cookies and cakes!).  I was also craving ice cream with Reese’s peanut butter cups.  I was actually wanting it from Yogurtini. I have never even been there and I want it! I had no idea what that place even was until a couple of weeks ago.  I have since read several blogs where the girls are going to similar places and filling their cup with delicious yogurt and toppings!  Why did I not know about this place BEFORE I started competition prep!?! You can probably guess that there was NO exercise yesterday.  I literally laid in bed with my heating pad and knitted and crocheted in between sneezes and nose blowing.  I was so pathetic.  Justin felt so bad for me.  He would come in every once in a while to check on me and bring me food or water or whatever I needed! What cold?

It’s Monday! I start with Diana in two days!  I can not wait!  I am ready to get my butt kicked and tighten this body up!!

I am trying to ignore this cold I have, but it’s kind of hard this morning.  I am not making any decisions about my workouts today for another hour or so.   Hopefully, as the morning goes on, I will feel less heavy headed.  I don’t want to bring my germs to the warehouse, but I really want to go!

*CAUTION: THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH IS FOR GIRLS ONLY*

I always have two really terrible days of lay-in-the-bed-with-heating-pad cramps during that time of the month and was really hoping those two days would have been Saturday and Sunday.  Nope.  I’m not feeling crampy this morning, yet, either.  Ugh! I have never wanted to start so bad in my life!  I just don’t want my first training session with Diana to be with cramps and water retention! 

Moving on to what I did yesterday!  My workout looked like this:

  • Body weight squats (Getting in and out of bed only to fix food and eat it [and use the restroom, of course!], then back to bed.)
  • Forearm exercises (Knitting ear warmer bands and crocheting hats)
  • Abs (Blowing my nose and sneezing)

My diet looked like this:

Meal #2: Vitamin C packed protein shake (made with love by Justin). Two apples, frozen strawberries, chia seeds, two scoops of vanilla ice cream protein powder.  It was so good!

I had some major cravings for chocolate, peanut butter ice cream yesterday.  I thought I would take care of it by making a chocolate protein powder ice cream in the Vitamix and then swirl in a tablespoon of natural peanut butter.  I didn’t do it right (way too much ice) and it was horrible.  I threw the whole thing out and chewed some dessert gum instead!

We snuggled in and watched Julie and Julia last night.

sniffle, sniffle…sneeze!

Darn!  I am sick. 

Not sick, sick, but runny nose, heavy head sick. Sad smile 

Hopefully it’s a quick one!  I start with Diana on Wednesday, so I don’t have time for this! 

I didn’t do any exercise yesterday.  I thought I was going to, but I was starting not to feel good and I didn’t want to run myself down anymore!
