Good Morning, Friends!
My yesterday started with another fantastic boxing class. The instructor must have woke up with extra energy because he did not let up for the entire hour. I came home, took the girls for their walk and then ate some breakfast.
Meal #1: Oats with protein
Justin played golf with his Dad all day, so I did my blog post and stuff around the house and then headed down stairs to lift some weights.
My weight lifting was cut short because I got a phone call from someone I care very much about telling me that they had decided (along with their doctor) to do the HCG diet. To be honest, I already knew from someone else but this was the first conversation with the actual person about it.
I am devastated with the decision and so disappointed in the doctor that made the recommendation. I wonder how much money that doctor is making off this diet. There are tons of websites out there if you Google HCG Diet to find out more information as I am no expert, but in a nut shell…the person takes a hormone, normally found in pregnant women, and eats 500 calories a day. The hormone, in it’s natural state, tells the body to release stored fat for the baby. (That’s why, in most cases, women can have months of morning sickness and the baby is unaffected.) Oh and no exercise for the first 3 weeks and then only walking is recommended. So, the person is basically living off their stored fat that is being released and then the 500 calories that they are eating plus vitamins.
I am trying to come to a peaceful place with it because when it comes down to it, I can’t make anyone want to be healthy. Everyone has their own journey, their own path in life. I’m sure many people think that my competition diet wasn’t good either, even though I ate more food then a grown man!
I just have to be supportive and hope that this person reaches their goal and isn’t left with life long side effects. The nurse in me worries about the heart and liver and kidneys and the hormonal imbalance this person may be causing unnecessarily.
I would love to hear your feedback on this diet. Have you heard of it? Do you know anyone that has done it?
Okay, moving past that…..
So, my weight lifting was just
3 sets of 10 reps
- Lat pull downs
- Leg extensions
Meal #2: Egg whites and gluten free toast
I had an appointment for a brazilian and a facial. It had been a while since my last wax and boy, that sucker hurt! All I can think of while it is happening is Steve Carrell in 40 Year Old Virgin. “OH KELLY CLARKSON”!!
The facial was a-mazing. My skin is doing much better. Taking sugar back out of my diet has really seemed to help and just getting back to a more balanced diet.
Meal #3: Tilapia and roasted broccoli
I don’t even know what I did the rest of the day. Obviously, nothing too interesting. Probably researching the HCG diet!
Justin got home around the same time I did and he shot an 89!!! Super proud of him!
Meal #4: Boiled egg and two slices gluten free toast with almond butter
Meal #5: Left over tilapia and roasted broccoli
I was in bed pretty early last night. I think I was asleep by 9:30p!
This morning I am off to the Harvest Ball, Adorn Fashion Show and Brunch with my Mom and Sister.
Then, this afternoon is my younger Sister’s bridal shower!
Big day! Better get moving!
